Wow!  It is the end of the first quarter of the year 2009.  Who feels it went quickly?  Everyone always says “time flys”, where did that month go? and similar feelings about any given year in general.  Well, it does not have to mean your health and fitness is going to wait until time slows down, because it just seems like it never will.  What if you thought, I know time flys and I know I cannot get the last three months of my life back but I am going to look ahead and treat the next three months differently.

I am going to take a different approach to April, May and June.  I am going to slow it down and do the things that will improve my overall health and fitness levels.  I am going to schedule my workouts as if they are an important client meeting or treat it like a social event with friends that I never miss.  If someone can take a “No-Options-Option” Approach to their health and fitness over the next 12 weeks they will undoubtedly have an amazing summer.

So, where will you start changing your tune for an overall improvement in your health and wellness routine?

Being Catholic I am going to be going to a lot of different events for Easter and on top of that we have communions, baptisms, and various other events where food is going to be abundant.  What I am going to do is my typical routine before going to any of these events:

  1. Workout the morning of the event-no questions asked.
  2. Eat a healthy meal before going to the event AND bring a protein shake to have immediately before entering the party.
  3. Always stay clear of alcohol and the sweets table.
  4. Seal the deal and only have half of what is seved to you and if I am at a buffet style use or visualize using a “dessert-sized” plate for my main meals.

That’s it.  Simple strategy, yet very effective.

Stay in control over the next three months and keep me posted as to how you do come June.
