How Are You So Fit…But Use So Much “Oil” In Your Diet?

This is a question which was asked of me not too long ago.  I am Italian you know.  We use a lot of olive oil for many different foods and cooking preparations.

So why am I so fit?  Well, thanks for the compliment first off, and what might seem as a lot of oil to you is but the right quantity for my lifestyle and food choices.

You see, I do not get my fats from processed foods or highly saturated meats.  I rely on olive oil for my salads and vegetable dishes and we also use it for some higher temperature cooking like scrambled eggs.  I get my Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s) from other oils like my salmon and other fish as olive oil is a poor supplier of EFA’s.

The two top oils we use are hemp and flax and supplementing with fish oils to get the much needed Omega 3’s which we as a society are lacking in the typical diet.

I also recommend people try the Medium Chain Triglyceride called Conjugated Linoleic Acid which has been proven in some recent studies to actually help the body burn stored body fat.

We also never use margarine in our house, we don’t even have it in our fridge.  We use butter instead, not in excess, but in moderation.

I suggest you read my articles at:

I also suggest people look at their overall lifestyle and nutrition intake and ask themselves “Where am I getting my calories and how much processing goes  into the foods I primarily eat?”

I look forward to your comments and questions on any health and fitness topic.

    Hi Tony

I have searched various sites trying to get an answer for my first question and seems everyone has a different response so figured I would ask the expert….

    1. What’s the difference between fish oil and cod liver oil? Do they have different functions for better health – do you recommend one over the other?

    2. Besides eating more fibre, fruits and veggies and drinking more water (which I am starting to do) Is there another / quicker solution for helping constipation? I dont feel bloated or uncomfortable but have the little stomach ponche …and I usually only go maybe once a week which I know can not be healthy. I have heard that many woman suffer from constipation?

    Thanks for your help
