Nutrition Will Get You Everything You Want

The correct nutrition that is!  Incorrect or poor nutrition choices will never assist the body to achieve the optimal state you are striving for.  I want to share a question from a member of this blog:

How do I get rid of my muffin top? I workout 5-6 days a week and this area doesn’t seem to be getting smaller. It does seem to be mostly skin. My abs are very strong but I can’t get my middle to get tight. Thanks, Tony

The best and only answer I will give here is the best approach to achieving the optimal body-shape you are looking for must be to seriously scrutinize everything you are eating and drinking and really tightening up on all angles.  Barring the skin issue, you must take a committed approach and log your nutrition, exercise, and measurements and then tweak one or all of them to change what you need to change.  It may take a little while but it is definitely worth it!  The correct exercise for your level is also extremely important but it seems like you are doing well in that category, yes/no?  Age in my mind is not a huge factor, only in that if you have poor nutrition it is more difficult to have that body and body fat percentage where you would desire.  Foods to avoid, well let me count them:

1. Sugar in all it’s hidden forms too

2. Processed and or refined foods

3. Alcohol

4. Pop

5. White flour products and white starchy carbs

6. Excess salt/sodium and the like

7. Low nutrition value foods that you would have in a hurry even if you think it is healthy like a whole wheat bagle or something similar

I hope this helps because I know how difficult it is to get from 14% bodyfat to below 10% but it can be done if you are willing to change certain lifestyle habits to achieve this goal.

    I dont have the discpline nor the interest to do a strictly raw diet. I try to eat healthy – fruit veggies chicken fish working to increase whole wheat / fibre etc. I limit if any pasta/ rice / bread.

    My question – does cooking food really change its nutritional value? ie vegetables – raw or cook? Nuts -like to roast almonds walnuts for a salad or snack – dont put anything on them just toast in the oven. Just curious?

    Sorry for the delayed reply. Our daughter was just recently baptized and now I am playing catch-up with comments. Thanks for your questions.
    Unfortunately cooking destroys a large portion of the nutritional value in our raw foods almost immediately. Having said that, quite a number of people have a tough time digesting raw foods all the time. I see your diet is fairly healthy just from the little bit you have shared but it seems pretty good nonetheless. Same goes for the nuts too sorry, any roasting, toasting or cooking changes the nutritional value of the nut to a much lesser value. Always remember, if you are eating healthy the way it seems you are, and you are exercising too? then try to eat more raw foods in quantity throughout the weeks coming up and not roasting the nuts and just play a “try and see” game with yourself and “try” the new ways of eating and “see” what results you gain from doing so. I really appreciate your question and don’t hesitate to ask more. Hope this helps a little at least.
